World Magic Cup QualifierWinners of World Magic Cup qualifiers earn an invitation and airfare to the World Magic Cup, to be held August 1–3, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The overall prize pool for the World Magic Cup has been increased to $250,000 this year. Registration: 8:30 a.m. Start Time: 10:00 a.m. Entrance fee: $25.00 Format: Constructed - Standard (DGM) Format Description: Constructed decks must contain a minimum of sixty cards. If a player wishes to use a sideboard, it must contain exactly fifteen cards. With the exception of basic land cards, a player's combined deck and sideboard may not contain more than four of any individual card, counted by its english card title equivalent. All cards named Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest are basic. The following card sets are permitted in this Standard tournament: Magic 2013 (M13), Innistrad, Dark Ascension, Avacyn Restored, Return to Ravnica, Gatecrash, Dragon's Maze. Structure: Swiss Structure Description: The principle of a Swiss tournament is that each player will be pitted against another player who has done as well (or as poorly) as him or herself. Each round, players who win receive 3 points, those who draw receive one point and losers receive no points. Win, lose, or draw, all players proceed to the next round. In subsequent rounds, players face opponents with the same (or almost the same) score. No player is paired up against the same opponent twice however. In some events, after Swiss rounds there will be a cut to a single-elimination playoff between the top players.
